Hell and reincarnation

In Christianity there is now and then talk of eternal hell punishment, which has always been called into question by wiser people. An eternal punishment would make God a demon that is infinitely worse than even the worst criminal and sinner could ever be. There is eternal damnation only concerning the spirit, for example the spirit of Judas, who is condemned as a traitor for the foreseeable future, probably forever. The betrayal of Jesus (= the spirit of Judas) is a member of hell and not of heaven. The same applies to the spirit of Satan, who seeks to destroy God. Of course, the pursuit of God's destruction does not have its place in heaven either.

Concerning the soul, however, there can be no eternal punishment. The soul is the formal being of the spirit and can break free from its hellish spirit. It behaves like the light (the spirit) and the object (the soul) on which the light falls. If the soul detaches from the spirit, then the spirit is like a light that does not fall on any object, i. e. is practically non-existent. Sooner or later a soul in one way or another inevitably detaches itself from its evil spirit, because no soul can endure eternal pains of hell.

Since, therefore, for several reasons, no soul can eternally fall into the hands of Satan or become one with him, which would mean that Satan could actually defeat God, the question remains, of course, what happens to a soul that ended up in hell after it was abducted or seduced there by the evil spirit. There are several possibilities, one of which is reincarnation.


To understand reincarnation

In order to understand reincarnation, one must know that the soul can either take a spiritual direction, i. e. it can unite with God, thereby achieving eternity, or it can take an unspiritual direction, whereby it assumes the qualities of matter, above all transience. Matter is in a constant cycle of origin and decay, of birth and death, and it is precisely this cycle that the soul is then subject to. Far Eastern religions call the cycle of birth and death samsara. When the soul is subject to this cycle and wanders from one material body to the next, this is called reincarnation.

This also makes it clear who is reincarnated, namely those people who are attached to the world who do not care about God and spiritual life. He who disregards the will of God in his heart and instead attaches himself as far as possible to worldly and self-love, who does not want to subordinate himself from his own free will to the will of God revealed to all men, does not get lost because of this, but succumb to reincarnation. Reincarnation is in principle nothing other than hell, because hell in the spiritual sense means selfishness and worldly love, in the natural sense body and matter. The difference between the notions of the afterlife of the Occident and the Orient is in reality merely an artificially constructed one based on a lack of insight into spiritual things.

There are two kinds of reincarnation. As long as a person is not yet in the deepest hell because of the wrongness of his love, after many bitter experiences he can become again what he was originally. His soul remains intact and can be incarnated again as a human being. But whoever has fallen for the actual eternal death, whoever is in the lowest hell, is no longer able to come out of it in the same primordial being, because he has lost the primordial life of the spirit. Such a man has no more conscience and is completely indifferent to everything. He blasphemes and scolds God and builds a throne for himself from his arrogance. Such a soul must be dissolved and transformed. Its components then migrate on long paths through the flora and fauna back to the human.

In general, there is no remembrance of past lives because such a recollection would severely affect a person's life. On earth it is about becoming a new creature in and from God, and not continuing an old order of life. Only when the soul has reached inner union with its spirit of love from God does it remember again, but in a transfigured light. There is then no longer deception and illusion, but only a brightest, heavenly truth and everything in the soul and apart from it becomes the highest bliss. All other remembrances must be viewed with skepticism. Since a human being is networked with a multitude of good and evil spirits, it can happen that the memories of a spirit are transferred into the human mind. This can then give rise to the misunderstanding of having seen scenes from a previous life, even though in reality they are scenes from the life of the spirit of a deceased person.

Why do so many Christians not know about reincarnation?


The Christian doctrine is addressed to all people and it is not given to everyone to grasp the secrets of the Kingdom of God, for this requires time and spiritual maturity. A person does not need to know anything about reincarnation in order to attain salvation. Reincarnation only becomes comprehensible when one recognizes and understands the nature of the soul, and this is not an easy matter. There are many extraordinary things which are not yet to be presented to immature people because they are of no use to them and only confuse them.

On the other hand, reincarnation can also be known about without understanding it. I have been given knowledge about the existence of reincarnation as an inspiration already as a child. One fine day, as I looked up at the sun, lying on a blanket in the grass, this truth came to my mind beyond all doubt. Just like that. At that time I had almost no idea of religion and spirituality. But I knew there was reincarnation. It was not until much later, through the new revelation of Jakob Lorber, that I understood it too. In the Far Eastern religions, reincarnation is pretty much the only thing where everyone agrees that it exists. There are differences in the details and there are also some mistakes, such as the idea that a bad human soul as such has to live in an animal, as punishment. However, a human soul can never be incarnated in an animal body, just because the soul builds up and maintains the body. Just imagine: How would you like to get along with a dog's body? It's only for Hollywood, but nothing real.

When a soul is dissolved into its constituent parts, it may well once again migrate through the mineral, plant and animal kingdom to man, but these constituent parts have as little to do with the former human soul as the clay from a failed pot, which has been given back to the general clay and formed into a completely new pot, has to do with the failed pot. Reincarnation is also not a kind of normal rule for humans, but rather an accident. Man is destined to end the soul's migration, i. e. to stop being incarnated. His destiny is not that of a prisoner in the eternal cycle of birth and death.

Some words about Hinduism und Vaishnavism

Hinduism is a true treasure trove for the adventurous seekers of truth and spiritually minded people. It is the most colorful world religion, because mysticism is not banished into a rumble chamber, stoned, crucified, or burnt at the stake. Non-violence is written in capital letters. When wars are fought, it is mostly on a philosophical basis and not bloody on the battlefield. Also things like inquisition, jihad, crusades and torture chambers are searched in vain. For animals Hinduism has more heart than other religions, except Buddhism. There are also no sects that have become too large or too powerful and consider themselves to be the measure of all things. No religion is more colorful than Hinduism. Nowhere else there is so much singing, dancing and fun. Hinduism is as diverse and crazy as humans. But Hinduism also has less friendly pages, to which I would like to dedicate myself a little bit more here. It is more important to know the downsides of a thing than all the good and marvelous things.

As far as the Vaishnavas are concerned, they belong to a mainstream of Hinduism. Vishnu or Krishna, one of the main gods of Hinduism, is recognized by them as the only God. The other gods of the Hindu pantheon are only demigods, angels so to speak. This one Krishna or Vishnu can be achieved through love (prema) and devotion (bhakti). Although the Vaishnavas are very different from the Christians in their appearance, they are nevertheless that flow of Hinduism which comes closest to Christianity. The Vaishnavas tend to accept all sorts of things when they think they can do better missionary work or serve God. Through and through mystics, they overcome all sorts of limitations, regularly annoying conservative Hindus and even other Vaishnavas.

The Vedas: Gods, Heroes, Demons and Monkeys

Yeah, I love the monkeys. Monkey god Hanuman fights with an army of monkeys in the service of Prince Rama against the demon Ravana. How can you not love that? Vedic Hinduism is based on sagas and legends, enriched by theosophical and philosophical teachings. In order for these teachings to be better accepted and kept by the folk, the ancient Indian wise men and poets put them into the mouths of mythological gods and heroes. One can consider the Veda as an Indian variant of Iliad and Odyssey. The Hindus like to claim that the Vedic writings are historical. However, because virtually no historical or archaeological evidence can be found, they also claim that these are stories from millions of years ago, or if the stories are too fantastic, to be stories from other planets. Certainly there may be a historical core, but due to all the imaginative decorations and poetry, it is almost impossible to find out. Nevertheless, the stories still convey truths despite their mythological nature. And as far as the many deities are concerned, this is, of course, to be rejected as something real. Rama, Krishna, Shiva, Brahma etc. lived in the real sense as little as Zeus and Apollo once did - but they still contain something characteristic of the eternal and true God.


Guru-ism: Hello, I am Super-ego-man!

Anyone who believes that popes and patriarchs are the summit of priestly pride obviously does not yet know the Hindu gurus. Especially the more well-known representatives of this species do not know anything like a summit. There is simply no limit to what a Hindu guru would not presume. A guru is to his disciples, in short, more than just EVERYTHING, more important than God. Maharaja ("Great King") is just the least. Some claim to be more than all other masters, others claim to be masters of the universe (sic!), yet others claim to be as good or even better than Jesus, some are even considered incarnations of God. Sometimes, when you go for a walk in India, you are glad to not meet any incarnation of God.

Since Hinduism does not know Jesus Christ, but only a distorted image of the true Jesus, the place of the only true Master remains free and is occupied by the gurus, similar to the way the moon takes the place of the sun at night. Some few gurus are like the beautiful full moon, most are like the waning or increasing moon, the annoying ones are like the new moon. In principle they are imitators or placeholder of the one true Master, Jesus Christ, who is like the sun. The gurus resemble the moon, which in itself is a dark and cold body, but can reflect the sun's rays. Thus they are the masters of the night and have their use for the wanderer in the night. Before you can see the light, you have to deal with the darkness. But as soon as the day begins to set in, as soon as the one true Master, who is like the sun, rises above you, the gurus are superfluous and sometimes even in the way, like the moon, which sometimes eclipses the sun. In the daytime, the moon has expired, you may still see it in the sky, but the light comes from the sun.

Fortunately, despite all their hubris, the Hindu gurus hardly ever take themselves as seriously as the "representatives of God" - the moons - of other world religions. The reason for this is not only the relaxed attitude of Hinduism, but above all the fact that the Hindu gurus dismantle themselves before they or their followers become too powerful. Since a Hindu guru practically thinks he is God himself, it looks bad with the succession, because first of all God can never resign or even die, and if he does this completely unexpectedly, of course he has certainly not found a worthy disciple, because a second God besides the only true God, how is that supposed to work? Thus the gurus automatically disassemble themselves, if they haven't been caught up in any scandals before, or have run off with the donation box and a pretty follower to test the stability of beds and lead a less crazy life. Hindu gurus and pop stars are actually very similar.


Initiation: My name is "Juggernaut's slave"!

Initiation means for the Vaishnavas to leave the old life behind and start a new life or to open a new chapter in life, whereby there are many variants of initiation. The most popular ones are the initiation as Vaishnava (diksa), which is comparable to the practice of monastic vows, the initiation as Brahmin, the Hindu variant of priestly ordination, and the initiation as sannyasi (mendicant), for which I cannot think of any comparison from Christianity. The Vaishnavas are wasting an endless amount of energy in arguments about initiation, which in itself clearly shows what is to be kept of all these initiations. On the one hand, they see it as a mere ceremony, but on the other hand, their whole world revolves around who has which initiation and, above all, from whom. For the initiator always functions as a guru, not as in Christianity, where it makes more or less no difference who inaugurates someone.

The disciple benefits from the fame of the guru, just as in the world a student benefits from a famous professor, so it is a big problem for the disciple if the guru is not in good standing. The grotesque exaltation of a guru is therefore based on the efforts of his disciples to worship him like a god and to give him the greatest titles.

Hindu gurus use the initiation to take control of their disciples. The disciple should leave his old "sinful" (= non-guru-driven) life behind him and start a new "spiritual" life. That's why he gets a new "spiritual" name. Thus the disciple lives a chain dog life, an alien life dictated to him by his guru often down to the smallest detail. It's like the disciple is wearing a mask. This can be quite funny for a while, but at some point he will find out that he doesn't control the mask as he might have thought, but the mask controls him. An identity crisis is thus inevitable. Eventually, the person behind the mask can't stand it anymore and tears the mask from his face. So he has at least made a valuable experience of what spiritual life is NOT. Spiritual life does not mean putting on a show. It's not about titles and honors. You have to grow into a real spiritual life and this takes time and humility and you don't just blind out a part of your life.


Idolatry: Money, Money, Money!

What is idolatry? Virtually everything can be made an idol, be it a picture, a statue, a person (including yourself), a book, an animal, a plant, a stone, namely by making it a deity. Only through idolatry does something become an idol. Instead of just looking at a statue, reading a book, treating a person with respect, one begins to perform a "holy of holies" act about sacrificing all sorts of things (which one then appropriates oneself, because that's what idolatry is all about in the end). This was also attempted in the case of Jesus, even during His lifetime. And like any normal person, who sees such annoying behavior, He admonished: "Do not make Me an idol!" Fortunately, Judaism was completely opposed to the worship of portraits, relics and statues, because otherwise we would have had similar problems in Christianity as in Hinduism.

An idolater soon realizes that other fools admire him as especially holy and they even begin to sacrifice to his idol. That's how the big moneymaking develops. Finally temples are built, festivals are held, processions are made and above all a lot of noise and shouting. The donations flow, and idol temples are the richest institutions in the country. The ancient commanders and kings knew exactly: If you need money to pay for your army, attack the next temple of idols, and you've taken care of it.

It is sort of sad that even the Vaishnavas engage in this business and promote it. According to their philosophy, their pictorial forms of Vishnu etc., as they are designed according to the descriptions in their Holy Scriptures, are spiritual and not material forms, that is to say electrified and therefore as good as electricity. But they miss the real point, because idol worship remains idolatry, even if it is organized around a spiritual form. Spiritual images and statues can be useful to give beginners and children an idea of spiritual life, but once they are made idols, there is a danger.

One may dismiss idolatry as mere spectacle and money-making, which is why it would not be such a dramatic phenomenon. The problem with idolatry is that an idolater remains attached to the exterior even in the case of spiritual figures, risking spiritual death. This happens when he thinks he is doing enough, when he participates in the whole theater, gives donations, throws himself to the ground and so on. But this is not so, because the true spiritual life is not an outer life, but an inner life.


Caste system: Don't touch me! I'm poisonous!


The driving force behind the caste system are the Brahmins, who are spiritually at about the level of ancient Judaism, when Moses called the Levites to priests, a birthright. The Vaishnavas have been at odds with these birthright followers for centuries, but they still fail to get rid of the caste system, because the ancient Indian scriptures are infested with it. There are constant recitals and considerations about who was born into which caste, and thus the caste system remains a constant curse of Hinduism. It is one of the main reasons why Hinduism has difficulties to spread outside of India, because all not born in Hindu families are seen as barbarians and who wants to belong to a religion in which one is fundamentally disregarded because of his birth?

I strongly doubt whether Hinduism will ever overcome the abominable caste system. That would need a step like from Judaism to Christianity, and who, apart from the Lord Himself, could do such a thing? Even Gandhi couldn't do it. The father of the nation was against the caste system and yet it still exists. Those who suffer most in the caste system have been solving their problem for centuries by converting to another religion. Therefore, many Indian Christians are former "untouchables". Even the unpleasant nationalist Hindus are aware of this fact, but they too are not able to overcome this curse of Hinduism, but attack non-Hindus.


Neighborly love: Why?

In my opinion, the greatest and most threatening evil in Hinduism is lack of neighborly love. Neighborly love means leaving each one his own, and if he does not have it or cannot obtain it, to give it to him. If no one gets infectious diseases out of misery and poverty, no one becomes criminal or incites revolutions, then society as a whole will benefit. Not even an enemy should be denied a living because an enemy who has nothing left to lose will defeat his opponents.

The lack of emphasis in Hinduism is less due to a disgusting misinterpretation of the teachings of reincarnation and karma, according to which the poor in an earlier incarnation were bad people and should now pay for it. Rather, it is true that the poor are in most cases made poor and kept intellectually and materially poor by heartless rich man and rulers.

The reason for the lack of neighborly love is rather to be found in the fact that Hinduism has arisen in India. India is a country where you can survive without a house and even without clothes, because the climate is subtropic. Nature is also very lush, which is why you can get the necessary food with comparably little effort. The Indians did not need to emphasize neighborly love because they could manage well on their own and were less dependent on the help of others. In cold and less fertile countries, charity is more strong, because otherwise people would not have survived a winter. This explains the particular hard heartedness of Indian wealthy people, of whom there are many, although India is considered a poor country. They live in their palaces and have no problem with it, if the greatest poverty prevails in front of their door. Even with children, they have no sympathy. At the same time, they are scolding the West as rotten and consider themselves to be the best people in the world. I therefore see with a certain horror when India gains increasing influence in the world. As long as Hinduism does not find more neighborly love, it will hardly ever succeed outside of India and other climatically similar countries, because the followers will simply not be able to survive.

One might ask: If non-violence is a high ideal of Hinduism, why not neighborly love, doesn't it somehow belong together? The reason for this is because non-violence is founded in the actually selfish fear that what one does to others is doing to oneself. "If I kill this mosquito, I'll be born a mosquito in my next life and I'll be slain." No one wants that, of course. A non-Hindu would rather kill the mosquito, so that others would not be disturbed or become ill if stung.


Hindu extremism: Hate and violence

The World Watch List of Open Doors lists India in the unglorious eleventh place ahead of Saudi Arabia (!). The increasing influence of intolerant Hindu extremism poses major problems for those of other faiths in India as the violence and attacks of local Hindu groups such as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Shiv Sena or Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and angry mobs of villagers incited by Hindu clergy are not stopped by the authorities. These local, state and national authorities are often dominated by the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This has nothing to do with the truly religious Hindus, who reject violence, but is nevertheless a great disgrace to a country that is admired for its non-violence and Gandhi.

In general, nationalism and religion are not really compatible. We are all children of the same one God and especially Hinduism rejects identification with material things and circumstances. Nationalists are like watchdogs, deterring thieves and murderers, which may well be necessary, but they also scare off innocent, good and desirable fellow human beings and possibly even attack them, because dogs are devoid of any real distinctiveness. So it is best not to keep them and even if they are necessary to educate and keep them in such a way that they do not harm others.

Extremism is one of the safest signs of being faced with false prophets, power-hungry priests or  hatemongers. Hindu extremism is essentially founded in the caste system and is promoted by its beneficiaries, the Brahmins, temple priests and businessmen from this environment. Unfortunately, these wolves in sheep's clothing have a strong following among the stupid in the people. So it is difficult to deal with this phenomenon.

What anyone can do is not unnecessarily provoke Hindus. Show consideration. No one has to eat meat and kill cows to survive in India. Same goes with drinking of alcohol. Even if there are many things that can be criticized in Hinduism, and some of them must be criticized, this should not be exaggerated. Everyone first of all sweeps in front of his own door, there he has dirt enough for it.

As soon as the Hindus realize, in this world or the next, in this life or the next, that their gods do not exist and their gurus cannot save them, they easily find the only one true Master, Jesus Christ, and the only true God who incarnated in Jesus Christ on earth. This insight can be forced as little as the sunrise. When the time is right, the Lord reveals himself. Until then, Hinduism is a good preschool and way better than a sectarian Christianity. Hindus find truth much easier than sectarian Christians - like the old pagans found to Jesus rather than the Jews. The first will be the last.

Who is the author of the New Revelation?

The author of the New Revelation is, of course, superficially Jakob Lorber, even if he claims that the work was dictated to him by his inner voice. It is only reasonable, in view of the undoubted existence of false prophets and all kinds of misuse of religion, to carefully examine character and lifestyle of the scribe. Since we cannot do this in person for natural reasons, the testimony of trustworthy contemporaries of Jakob Lorber remains. In comparison to other persons acting as prophets, there is a relatively large amount of material, with Jakob Lorber receiving the best testimonies from intellectually educated, critically thinking contemporaries. Anyone who knew him personally from many years of personal contact, or visited him and critically examined him, came to the conclusion that he was a sincere, kind-hearted and mentally healthy person who was not expected to be deceitful or mischievous. He did not do business with his writings, which also excludes financial motivation. He lived, as far as he could not sustain himself, from voluntary donations. As a human being, Jakob Lorber remained accessible and had no need to hide. There was nothing to hide, which would of course have been the case if he had been a cheater or any other evil-minded person. Only the writings had to be kept hidden because of the political situation in the state. It should not be too difficult for an unbiased judging person to accept Jakob Lorber as trustworthy. Of course, anyone who does not believe in God, or who denies God the ability to dictate to someone, has no choice but to consider Jakob Lorber as a cheater or mentally ill person contrary to all testimony. This does not, however, provide a conclusive assessment of Jakob Lorber, but merely a testimony, first of all, to a world view in which there is no room for someone like Jakob Lorber, and secondly, to the arbitrary act of the judge, who simply ignores all serious witnesses.

If Jakob Lorber had been mentally ill or a cheater, his educated friends would inevitably have noticed this. That is why this assumption is unacceptable. Moreover, the content of the New Revelation by far exceeds the educational horizon of the writer. Although Jakob Lorber was intelligent and not uneducated in higher spiritual matters, he had mastered some Latin and had completed an education as a secondary school teacher, he did not receive a higher education. The New Revelation is a work that provides material for whole generations of researchers. It is theologically and philosophically consistent in itself, contains a grandiose view of the world that goes far beyond the ideas of the 19th century, describes a multitude of people, explains things from all kinds of fields of knowledge. To write a work such as the New Revelation, Jakob Lorber would have had to be far more than a 19th century Leonardo da Vinci. In fact, however, he was a simple man who was only talented in music. He did not even have a library of scholarly and highly intellectual writings. After his vocation he hardly read at all any more. He had not traveled much either. However, the New Revelation contains detailed information on the history and geography of many places in the world. The way in which the New Revelation is written in one go is also a clear indication of a dictation, and not of the work of an author: there are no drafts, revisions, amendments and deletions, only minor orthographic corrections. In addition, the works were often revealed in parallel, so Jakob Lorber would have had to work on several works at the same time. In short: To accept Jakob Lorber as the author and not only the scribe of the New Revelation is outright unscientific.

The assumption that Jakob Lorber only imagined his inner voice, because he may have suffered from schizophrenia, is unacceptable, because no mentally ill person is capable of creating a coherent work such as the New Revelation. The Protestant theologian Hellmut von Schweinitz wrote:"To dismiss the phenomenon of Lorber with the interpretation of depth psychology is not a convincing explanation. For what comes to the surface of consciousness in his writings are realizations that cannot come from the sphere of his limited human knowledge. A human life would not suffice for their appropriation and all creative imagination would not suffice... Nor can the life's work of Lorber be explained by philosophical or theological speculation. As with all prophetic phenomena, there remains an inexplicable remainder." What can be questioned with a certain justification is the assumption and statement of Jakob Lorber that the New Revelation had been dictated to him by God or Jesus Christ or an angel of God.

So there was another intelligence, a spirit that spoke to Jakob Lorber. We have two ways to judge the nature and essence of the spirit of Jakob Lorber: How did the spirit treated his instrument and what are his statements? The following can be said about the first question that Jakob Lorber was treated well and fairly and dearly loved the one who spoke to him. His only complaint was to be kept too short in existential matters. To live a life like the lilies of the field and the birds of heaven has not exactly pleased the apostles of Jesus either. The statements of the New Revelation also bear witness to the goodness and kindness of the author, who continually reveals himself as Jesus Christ and God the Father, and in accordance with the Gospel asks for love of God and love of neighbor. If an evil intelligence had spoken to Jakob Lorber, he would certainly not have loved him in view of his good lifestyle, but would have fought against him. Nor would an evil spirit call us to love God and neighbor. The reproaches that Satan or any other devil would have spoken to Jakob Lorber are without any objectivity, even if one assumes that Satan had dressed up as God or angel in order to mislead Jakob Lorber and his friends. Through the New Revelation many people have already found faith, Jesus and God. If such is the work of the devil, then at most in the eyes of determined enemies of God.

The book Robert Blum (2.261.5) states that the New Revelation was dictated by an angel to Jakob Lorber. It is quite common for God to be represented by an angel. The Old Testament already provides testimonies on this several times, and the revelation of John in the New Testament is also given by an angel as the Word of God. Which angel it was who spoke to Jakob Lorber can only be assumed. The transmitter of the New Revelation was probably Archangel Raphael. He occurs remarkably often in the later works of the New Revelation, moreover, the healing of the soul through the awakening of the divine spirit in it is a determining theme of the New Revelation. Raphael is known as the angel of healing, his name means "God heals (the soul)". Now our angel has imparted the New Revelation, but in some cases he used already existing heavenly books. The fact that there are also writings in heaven is confirmed by the Bible in Ezekiel 2:9 and Revelation 5:1, so we can only conditionally regard Raphael as the author of the New Revelation. What is more apt is the statement that the New Revelation itself makes, namely that it was given by Jesus Christ, whereby one could also say that it descended from heaven. Nevertheless, it remains a question of faith, of course, whether God or Jesus spoke in Jakob Lorber. And this is also in the sense of the New Revelation, which does not want to force anyone to accept it. It provides many clues which are quite clear, but not compelling evidence. The freedom of the human being is completely preserved.

Why the four regulative principles are generally useful

For starters, what are the four regulative principles? They have been prescribed by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada and are sort of common rules for Vaishnavas and Hindus desiring to be more serious in spiritual life. One can also consider them as a religious rule.
  • No meat-eating, including fish or eggs
  • No illicit sex (including that which, even within marriage, is not for the procreation of children)
  • No gambling
  • No intoxicants
Next question is, why follow them, if you are not Vaishnava or Hindu? Because 
  1. they are not limited to a particular religious conviction 
  2. save you a lot of trouble 
  3. promote spiritual life.
I see them as guardian angels. It's like not having a car. You save yourself a lot of work, which is necessary to get and keep a car, you don't run over anyone and you don't have a bad conscience to ruin the earth for you and your descendants, because you are obsessed with the crazy idea of needing a ton of metal to drive your rotten bones through the area. Instead of all this you are free to do something spiritually uplifting. Sacrifice the transient to make the eternal easier to cultivate. Regulative principles can be extended endlessly, but they can also be reduced to one thing: Make it easier for the Spirit of God to flow into the soul.

The four regulative principles are like guardian angels.
Another advantage is that you don't give any religious community reason to complain about bad behavior. One should not be a nuisance to anyone unnecessarily, especially not as a follower of Jesus. If you follow the four principles, Buddhists and Hindus will respect you for the renunciation of meat, fish and eggs, Muslims and Jews will like you for the renunciation of the consumption of impure and forbidden things. It's like being a gentleman, a man of good, courteous conduct. And you want to be a gentleman, not an ogre, don't you? Jesus does not ask for four regulative principles, but He will rejoice if His followers behave properly. Of course the adversaries and slaves of sense gratification may not be happy with you following this principles. You can't be everybody's darling.

Ideally, one should only impose the regulative principles on oneself and not take vows. This is because spiritual progress should not be enforced and a vow easily becomes a judgment. It should always be "you shall," not "you have to." Nor should they be imposed on others. After all, more sensual people are not able to keep to them. It's not their fault, it's their nature. God will take care of them in other ways. However, there is no reason not to declare the regulative principles a mandatory law in special communities and places

There is, however, a great danger that will ruin everything on the spot. If you take pride in complying with the regulative principles, you are worse than a repentant sinner. Those who adhere to regulative principles should therefore always take a very critical look at themselves. Never scornfully look down on other people. Obeying this regulative principles makes you a gentleman in spiritual life, but a real gentleman is not smug, arrogant and conceited.

And one thing is still very important: without love for God and for neighbor, observing the four regulative principles is spiritually completely worthless and even an abomination.

No meat-eating: Eating vegetarian or vegan food has become popular in recent years. Nobody sane wants to be responsible for the horrors of the meat industry, deadly epidemics and the gigantic environmental destruction. What's more, word has got around about how unhealthy meat is. But the renunciation of flesh has been present for thousands of years in the spiritually more advanced people and communities.

The fact that food has a substantial influence on the human mind and body can be observed by everyone. It's not for nothing: you are what you eat. Meat-eaters get fat and sluggish and look increasingly like corpses. It is almost impossible to talk to them about higher spiritual things because they do not understand anything properly. In the case of long-term meat eaters, one can even say which kind of meat he likes best, because he looks increasingly like a pig or a cattle or whatever. God has ordered vegetarian nutrition for man. Thus man remains a human being.

No illicit sex: This is certainly the most demanding rule. It is also preached by the New Revelation and we find it everywhere in Christianity. Celibacy. Even in marriage. You ask why? Because people have limited strength and sex life is at the expense of spiritual development. The more lecher you are, the less you understand spiritual things. You may still understand them with your head, but no longer with your heart, and then you really don't understand anything. The divine spiritual things require renunciation, self-control and above all purity of heart. Otherwise, you will meet destruction.

The New Revelation demonstrates this fact in a quite entertaining way. There we find bishop Martin meeting Satan in the hereafter, who shows him to be a breathtakingly beautiful woman. Martin became literally crazy and wanted to become Satan's little helper, even in the personal presence of Jesus. But Jesus saved him.

Or when the spirit of Elisabeth H├╝ttenbrenner visited Jakob Lorber. Our poor scribe was barely able to write: "But if you weren't so heavenly beautiful, I could write easier! But when I look at you, I would much rather hug you and die in such a heavenly embrace than wiggle my pen and paper!" Elisabeth solved the problem by standing behind Lorber. Human weakness. Even prophets are struggling with it.

One has to understand that God and the angels are love and wisdom in person and therefore supernatural beautiful and attractive. One cannot approach them without self-control and purity of heart without falling dead (or worse) on the spot. The great love of the angels destroys unprepared people, therefore they cover themselves up or behave reservedly. If someone who is not a master of his senses approaches the divine spiritual things, he runs the risk of his spiritual life being completely ruined.

Still there is the question: How on earth do you ever want to live up to that demanding rule? Answer: There are a lot of helpful things like an orderly marriage life and the community of renounced and wise people. But according to the current circumstances you will probably only be able to approach this ideal. I deem this to be sort of normal. If humans could control their reproductive organs so easily, they would probably have died out long ago. Even heroes of renunciation fail to fully comply with this regulation. But that's not so bad as long as you remain humble. If you truthfully admit to being a weak sinner, Jesus can save you. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. But the days of the flesh are numbered anyway.
A yogi needs to be master of his senses

No gambling: Those who have never been addicted to gambling may find this regulation easy and perhaps even unnecessary. In fact, however, the addiction to gambling has a downright devastating force and violence, which is why one should not be reckless. Numerous people and families have already been ruined by betting offices, casinos and gambling machines. Avoid them like hell. The greatest danger is that which cannot be detected in time. Even lottery games should be avoided.

No intoxicants: Since the enjoyment of intoxicants already impairs the earthly and natural life, it should not be too difficult to understand that they are not conducive to spiritual life. Drunk people may communicate with all sorts of spirits, but what comes out even in better circumstances is at best something an ordinary person could have told you.

Intoxicants are not only drugs, but also alcohol, nicotine, caffeine. Even cocoa and sugar can be counted among them, as they have a stimulating and addictive effect. Addiction is always an obstacle in spiritual life, because one should become a servant of God, not a slave of any substance.

In every religion, we find one or two concessions on drugs. Christians are not directly forbidden to drink wine, Muslims have replaced alcohol with coffee and sugar, Hindus chew betel nuts. Sometimes a narcotic drug is included in the worship, like wine among Christians. Nevertheless, it would be good to abstain as far as possible from narcotics, especially if they were prohibited by the state or religion.

A psychological profile of Jakob Lorber

Jakob Lorber showed all the characteristics of a highly sensitive person as described by the university professor and psychotherapist Dr. Elaine N. Aron. People whose senses are much more sensitive than those of the insensitive majority are described as highly sensitive. For this reason, their personality develops in a way that differs from that of the majority, which is why some psychiatrists consider high sensitivity to be a personality disorder. Highly sensitive people are above average compassionate. They have a pronounced sense of justice, are considerate and not offensive and place the needs of others above their own. Usually they need time alone every day in order to be able to retreat, to rest and to process the sensations they have experienced. With their more sensitive senses, they are able to better assess and judge other people and situations, recognize undesirable developments and dangers earlier than others and have easier access to the spiritual world, are artistically and spiritually inclined and imaginative. High sensitivity is also found in animals, where it is the watchful, cautious and easily scared specimens of their species. Up to 20 percent of today's mankind is classified as highly sensitive, although it depends on where you draw the line. If only those people are regarded as highly sensitive who are forced to lead a permanently withdrawn life because they suffer too much from noise and other people, then the percentage of highly sensitive people is at most in the single-digit range. The destiny of a highly sensitive person is that of an artist, healer, priest and teacher.

Many spiritual people show signs of high sensitivity. Jesus Christ was also so inclined.
High sensitivity also has its disadvantages. Highly sensitive are easily injured and offended. They are not suitable for many professions where profit is made at the expense of others on doubtful or even openly incorrect paths, where competitive thinking and competition prevail. Since highly sensitive people perceive more than insensitive people, they are overtaxed more quickly and react inappropriately or insanely. Because they tolerate less stress, they can fail completely if they are only critically observed. Highly sensitive people fall in love easily and rashly, which is why their first permanent relationship is more likely to be unhappy. For the same reason, they easily fall for a pseudo-master or charlatan on their spiritual path, who then exploits them personally and financially. They learn from this, however, and subsequently enter into further relationships in a particularly deliberate and cautious manner. Overall, the life of highly sensitive people is more difficult and uncomfortable than that of insensitive people. However, since highly sensitive people are imaginative and spiritually inclined, they can flee from painful circumstances by withdrawing into their world of fantasy and faith. In this way, they can even endure more than insensitive people.

Highly sensitive people, especially men, often have a difficult childhood because they are less liked even by their own mother, because they do not correspond to the social ideal of the insensitive, ruthless and aggressive warrior, to whom a "real man" is supposed to become. As a result, their self-confidence suffers and they have to get a protective shell to survive. Even if they adopt professions that correspond to their nature, they often have difficulties in an insensitive society that overestimates struggle, competition, power and achievement to self-destruction. There are few countries where sensitive men are appreciated and respected. Although highly sensitive people perform better than average in suitable professions and are particularly important today to counteract the dangerous misguided developments of humanity, they are exploited and oppressed in most countries.

Jakob Lorber was very compassionate, an artist's soul, spiritually inclined even before his calling and earned his livelihood mainly as a musician and teacher. Sometimes he complained bitterly about the insecurity of his living conditions, but otherwise he remained a cheerful and sociable person. It was only in his last years of life that his irritability increased, and instead of his former cheerfulness he was caught up in a very serious soul mood. His childhood may have been less difficult with regard to his artistically oriented father, who was probably highly sensitive himself and therefore able to understand his son. Jakob obviously had a good relationship with his father, who taught him as his first teacher in music. If it is true that a person's image of God is substantially influenced by his father, then this would explain the strong emphasis on the particularly loving and gentle divine Father in the New Revelation, who also constantly speaks as a teacher. The young Jakob obviously did not need and did not form a protective shell. This enabled him to lead a more sociable life than highly sensitive men usually have, but also led him to take criticism and rejection badly because it hurt him too much. He felt easily offended when one called his words into question. This explains why he gave up his profession as a secondary school teacher right after the rejection of his first application and turned completely to music, as his biographer Leitner reports. In addition to a particularly good heart and the love of God, for which much and even everything must be sacrificed, the lack of demarcation also constitutes an additional or alternative reason why Jakob Lorber was exploited and for his unreasonable charity, through which he brought himself into existential hardship. Jakob Lorber suffered less when he took on the needs of others than to observe and share them with others. Such an attitude is typical for a highly sensitive person and is often found in mystic people. Most probably he also saw the Lord, who had taken care of him so lovingly and mercifully, in the poor.

High sensitivity is easily accompanied by stress. Artists in particular are therefore particularly susceptible to narcotics.
Alcohol and opiates lower the excitation level, caffeine and amphetamines increase it. Highly sensitive people can therefore help light alcoholic beverages to stay more relaxed in everyday life and in society and thus get along better. Jakob Lorber is known to have enjoyed a glass of wine with his friends. For him, this was a cure in view of his circumstances, because to act as a prophet is nerve-racking. Caffeine, on the other hand, has a particularly stimulating effect on highly sensitive people, which means that they are overtaxed even more quickly by stress or sensory impressions that assail them; it is therefore a veritable poison for them. The New Revelation repeatedly warns of coffee as harmful and poisonous, which is why it can be assumed that Jakob Lorber did not drink coffee at all or only a little, which of course benefited him particularly in view of his personal constitution. Otherwise Jakob Lorber remained a child forever; inaccessible to the treachery of the world and at the same time at their mercy. The penchant for childlike openness, unrestrained devotion and trust made him often alienated to the cold, loveless environment. He was incomprehensible, uncanny to the world, he became the object of gossip of a narrow-minded, insensitive and unconscious society with little or no awareness of its own shortcomings. He was never at home on earth, he did not live in the earthly sense, but survived. He could not count on real understanding. As he grew older, he withdrew more and became more serious. His kingdom was in heaven and not of this earth.

About me

First communion in 1976
I was born in Bludenz, Austria, in 1968. My environment was sort of secular-Roman Catholic were religion and faith have never really played any special role. The children were baptized in order to correspond to social conventions. For the same reason, they were sent with the other students for religious instruction, communion, confession and confirmation. Every now and then a mass was visited. No one read the Bible, we didn't even have one in the family library. Those who read the Bible, let alone obeyed it, or seriously devoted themselves to religion and spirituality, were considered abnormal.

Since I found only murder and darkness in my homeland, I followed the light from the East and emigrated to India spiritually in search of divine truth and living spirituality. In the late' 80s, I got in touch with the Bengalese (Gaudiya) Vaishnavas, a movement of Hinduism which evangelized in the West under the name of "Hare Krishnas". During this time I traveled through Europe to the temples and centers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and twice to India, to Vrindavan and Mayapur, the two most important pilgrimage places of the Bengalese Vaishnavas. I studied all the books of Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON, as well as other spiritual classic Indian Scriptures, had a nice time with a lot of devotees and "friends of Krishna", doing harinam and sankirtan (collective chanting and dancing), visiting festivals, lectures and classes, doing japa (mantra meditation) a few years, adhered to the regulations and seriously considered to live as a monk in some ashram. Since my profession was computer programmer I published the first German-speaking website about Krishna-Consciousness named "Gaura-Nitai Homepage".

Searching the then completely new World Wide Web I found out about the scandals that took place in ISKCON and how the leadership deviated after the decease of the founder. This made me join a reform movement called PADA, Praphupadanugas and Ritviks, which tried (and still tries) to make things right again. During this time I published more websites, scanned the original German translations of Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada's books, which required an enormous effort at that time, because the books could only be saved as text and not as pictures. Also I translated various texts and scriptures for the websites, including the still popular "The Final Order" of Krishnakant. Some of this websites are still online, but have been shanghaied by a Prabhupada disciple I have worked with in the past. In retrospect I have to say, that "Back to Prabhupada" alone is not the solution to solve the problems of ISKCON. I am still convinced that Prabhupada has appointed priests (ritviks) instead of gurus to enable further initiation in ISKCON after his departure. But it doesn't bother me anymore, because I have lost my connection to ISKCON or left it behind me.

At the same time I finally read the Bible, which I found to be poorly in comparison with the Indian scriptures, and became interested in Marian spirituality and Christian mysticism. In spite of various difficulties I was able to learn a lot about spirituality and religion, about people and religious organizations, about myself and about life and the world itself.

Finally I came across the books of Jakob Lorber (1800-1864) around 2003. He is the author of a new revelation, a spiritual cleansing or reform of Christianity. And now my firm conviction, based on the masterpieces of Indian spirituality, was overshadowed by a very simple Austrian prophet. How pathetic and insignificant does Jakob Lorber look next to the Indian masters, who sit on thrones and allow themselves to be titled with boastful names such as "Divine Holiness", "Master of all Masters" constantly surrounded and slavishly served by their disciples and followers. Only "scribe of God" claimed Jakob Lorber for himself and lived in much greater humility than the so-called sannyasis (mendicant monks). How humble Jesus looks in His simplicity next to the magnificent Krishna, the Herculean warrior who always moves from one fight to the next. Jesus speaks to brothers and children; Krishna to slaves and servants, in the higher parts to friends and lovers. Jesus speaks as brother and father, Krishna as king. That gave me food for thought. The books of Lorber fascinated me at first glance, although I found them a bit strange initially. I couldn't really accept one or the other statement at first because of existing opinions - but soon enough it turned out that the books of Lorber were superior to other writings or teachings.

For some time I tried to follow Jesus and Krishna at the same time as the Vaishnava gurus taught, but this did not work at all. The Jesus of Hinduism or Vaishnavism is not the real Jesus, he is just a distorted picture like so many other things in the Hindu conglomerate. You can't follow the real Jesus and Krishna at the same time. One of them has to go. I thought about who I would most like to live with in eternity: Peaceful and friendly Jesus Christ, or Krishna, who is actually a rather frightening person, considering how many people he is supposed to have killed, according to the legend. If Krishna were to appear (again?) today, the state and even the Vaishnavas would arrest and imprison him as a murderer of his opponents and a moral criminal. I was kind of struck by lightning: Whom they made me follow? How could I've been so blinded? But even such frightful considerations didn't bring me a solution. Krishna didn't let me escape his clutches so easily. It was a most painful time, like being ripped alive into a thousand pieces. Finally I was convinced by the New Revelation answering several important questions with unlikely ease. These were answers that I had hitherto sought in vain not only in the spiritual writings of the Far East, but also in the Bible and among Christian mystics. The sun of the West surpasses the light of the East - but hardly anyone knows about it! In the New Revelation, I have found more than satisfactory clarification on all the essential issues. Through them I finally found after a long odyssey to Jesus Christ, the true pure devotee, the one and only bona-fide guru and incarnation of God, the heavenly Father. But the New Revelation not only allowed me to replace Krishna with Christ, I also found a way to appreciate the Bible.

Of course, the Vaishnavas have developed sophisticated philosophies as to why it's perfectly okay for Krishna to behave like a fiend, but not for everyone else, apart from exceptions, and whoever gets involved with them should dress warmly. I still consider Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada to be a spiritual guide, a wise man who courageously set out into the heart of darkness to proclaim God there, as far as he understood God. When there was only darkness, his books were there for me. They were like the moon at night. With moonlight you don't see the world like with sunlight, but better a moonlight than no light at all. Nevertheless, there are also some things concerning Prabhupada, which have to be questioned, where one cannot say: The end justifies the means.

In Hinduism and Vaishnavism there are a lot of crazy things, such as guru madness, idolatry and devotee cult. But at the same time there are many beautiful and wonderful things like a great spirit of renunciation, enthusiasm and non-violence. So I came to the following conclusion: I follow Jesus Christ, who is God as man, or incarnation of God, and accept the Gospel as the highest doctrine, by which I mean not only the Bible but also, for example, the writings of Jakob Lorber and Emanuel Swedenborg. At the same time I continue to follow the four regulative principles formulated by Prahbupada (no eating of meat and eggs, no intoxication, no illicit sexuality and no gambling) and try to keep my material demands to a minimum. As a bonus the remarkable philosophy of the Bengalese Vaishnavas in the succession of the mystic Chaitanya help me to better understand higher spiritual things.

Since then I've put up some websites and projects to further the cause of Jesus Christ. I still look for news or revelations from the spiritual world and keep an eye on it, because there is always progress and further development in the spiritual as well. But I don't do this any more with the kind of despair that drives a person who is either searching for truth or who has been stunned by the conditions in the world and who has received either none, bad or only false answers to the fundamental questions of life. When I read the New Revelation, it is like a direct contact with God who speaks to me in my heart. In general, this work has such a power that within a short time one is literally taken out of the clutches of the world and transferred into the kingdom of God, provided that one reads it in the right attitude, in that of true humility, and takes the readings to one's heart. I hope that universal Christianity, or indeed humanity in general, will one day give up the distorted, man-made teachings of the churches and will come to appreciate the spiritual richness that God has generously given away - the teaching of Jesus as it is, again set forth in the New Revelation.
